What is PageRank or PR

PageRank was introduced to measure the importance of a specific web site or page's importance based on the number and quality of web sites linking ( back links ) to that web site. So basically the more links which point to your web site the more important, popular it becomes and therefore get's a high PageRank.

Should I post my web site to guestbook’s, link farms ?

In my opinion I would recommend you do not take this approach. You need to build upon a long term linking strategy which involves the following and will in turn provide you with a respectable PageRank status plus a possible high ranking.

1) Research your target audience and web sites with similar interests to your site.

2) Contact the site owner to exchange web links. Joomla is ideal for this as it contains a built in web link component.

3) Avoid bad Neighbours IE FFA link farms, adult sites and so on.

4) If possible include your title and your targeted keywords in the web link you wish to exchange

5) Exchange links with web sites who alrady have a high PR. This will give you more weight, importance in terms of pagerank.
